In Night Frequencies: Deptford Creek 20-08-10 sonic frequencies were filmed responding live to situated sounds on a Friday night in Deptford, SE London.Trains, police sirens, airplanes and wind in the reeds are visualized as sonic frequencies passing across selected spatial structures.
The camera and projector were sited within the yard at APT Studios, beside Deptford Creek. Deptford is a place where artists, designers, experimental musicians, and film makers choose to work - within the lively multi-cultural community living there. The sonic frequencies were projected onto the nearby metal structure of an X, part of our studios’ 19th century industrial structure.The shadow of the X falls onto the London Docklands Light railway and a new eleven storey hotel being built opposite in more affluent Greenwich – this is one of many expensive developments in London to cater for the 2012 Olympics.
The creek forms the border between these two communities, although the soundscape is common to both.
NIGHT FREQUENCIES 2, Apt Yard, 18-09-10
Live frequency projections were filmed responding to the sonic environment in the yard at APT studios during a Saturday night in Deptford, SE London. The industrial and practical structures that are projected onto become more revealed as the sound emission analyser, Overtone Analyser, responds to higher frequency sounds.
